MP criticises 'lack of will to tackle FGM in Britain - 08 January 2013

A politician in the UK has said too many professionals are reluctant to take action to stop female genital mutilation (FGM). Ann Clwyd, an MP who was instrumental in getting a ban on the procedure introduced in Britain, said there is not enough will among police officers, doctors and teachers to act on the problem.

Speaking to the Independent on Sunday, she acknowledged it was "very nice" for a law that she proposed to be added to the statute books. (continue reading...)
