Austrian FM in Mali to discuss Al-Qaeda hostages: source

Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik has paid a lighting visit to Bamako to discuss the case of two Austrians kidnapped in Tunisia in February by Al-Qaeda's north African offshoot and now believed to be held in Mali, a diplomatic source said Monday,AFP reports.

"She arrived Sunday night and returned on a special plane this Monday," the source in Mali, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, adding that she had met President Amadou Toumani Toure.

"She came to thank the Malian authorities for everything they have done to ensure the liberation of the two Austrian hostages," the source added. (...)
